Kenmore 110 27831600 washer. Started it when we left the house. When we got home, it was still full of water and won't agitate or drain on any cycle. It will add water to tub when turned to that position.
Where should I start?

Lid switch. See if you can hear a click opening and closing the lid. This is the most common failure for this machine with that complaint. Also search youtube for "whirlpool lid switch replacement" I'm sure you'll find a video that will be similar to your machine.

There is no safe way to bypass any equipment I've seen it done many times and and frown upon it. Best way is to use another washer temporarily or wait. It is considered a safety feature and I find sometimes when it's bypassed it is forgotten about until it causes bigger problems. Sorry Zephlew
