I am not sure how old is the stacked washer dryer. Came with the house.

While washing clothes, saw smoke coming from washer and burning smell. I called the technician hoping it might just need the belt change. I am told that it needs new motor and will cost me $400.

What you suggest should I buy new stack unit for appx. $1300/- or get the motor fixed.

Will appreciate your response. Thanks in advance.

With a machine of this age I think the much better option is to buy new. I think if you shop around you can get a replacement for approximately $1,000, maybe even a little less.
