Our workhorse Maytag fills spins and then hums on rinse fill and does not fill. We can move it along to spin but not the 2nd fill.
I found on a forum to check drain hose. I did and still did not work.
What is the next thing to do?

Can you clarify what you mean by fills and spins? Do you mean it fills and agitates but then stops?

If so the timer or the motor or transmission may be the issue, but if you can provide additional info we may be able to narrow it down.

Thank you for your reply.
It seems that there is no cold water going in. I therefore gets up to the rinse and just hums. I am in middle of checking the valve. It seems like the power still goes through it. How can I tell if it is clogged?

Use a meter to see if 110volts are getting to the cold water valve, or just reverse the hoses and see if cold water comes in when it calls for hot water and if no hot water comes in when it calls for it calls for cold. If so try replacing the valve assembly.

I put it back together and it worked. Don't know why it didn't before, but now it does. Maybe some crud that worked itself loose?

Hard to say but often we take something apart, clean everything and every part we can and put it back together and it works. You may have had a stuck valve that became unstuck.
