We have replaced the inverter 3 times in 3 years and replaced the motherboard once a couple years ago.
What could be causing the inverter to go bad so often?
Also, even with new inverter, the refrig and freezer have a hard time staying cool, especially in the summer. Any tips would be grateful.

As far as having trouble staying cool all I can suggest is that:
1. Check/clean the vents in the rear cover and front kick plate.
2. Keep the condenser/compressor coils clean.
3. Make sure that the condenser fan blade is clean. A dirty fan blade will reduce air flow.

I would suggest that you purchase an appliance surge protector.
A 1000 joule unit is recommended but a 750 unit should be OK if you cannot find a 1000 unit.
It plugs into the wall receptacle and the frige plugs into it.
They are available from Home Depot etc.
My thought here is that spikes on the line are taking out the electronics.
This is just a shot in the dark but can't hurt giving it a try.

The other possibility is that there is a problem in the compressor.
This would probably not be worth fixing unless it could be confirmed by a tech and it may not show up in any tests.
