I have a chest freezer supposedly made by Sunbeam, but distributed by MC Appliance who lists it as a Magic Chef. Magic Chef's closest model number is HMCF7W2. My problem is after a power outage (4 days before we noticed freezer wasn't working) there was standing water at the bottom of freezer and all contents (about $300.00 worth of meat) had to be tossed. I've cleaned the unit at least twice attempting to get rid of the odor, but the unit hasn't gotten cold since. The compressor is humming and I'm pretty certain it's running. Compressor is hot and one coil is cold and the other hot. The hot coil is only hot for about a foot or two, could gravity play a role in this? The coil is higher just after the compressor and lower before it goes up the back of the unit. I'm feeling I can save this unit. What can I do?

I cannot find any info on either model number you give.
That is not surprising as often tech and parts info is not published on these small units.

Check that the compressor is running.
You can usually hear it but should also be able to feel it vibrating.
If it is on and the unit is not cooling then it is a sealed system problem.
In most cases it does not make sense to repair it due to the high cost.

If it is just humming but not vibrting then it could be a problem with the start relay.
