If you're reading this Gene, you may recall you just bailed me out on my Kitchenaide dishwasher that wouldn't go thru the cycles (turned out to be a partially shorted winding in the motor.) Anyway, my reward for getting that thing fixed is to discover the glass top of my Frigidaire range is cracked - badly.
I have the p/n as 316098128.

Does this sound right, and how much of a job is it to remove the top?
TIA

Hi Dave

Yes, you were right about the part number for the main top. In the AppliancePartsPros.com data base the part number for this main top is AP2125476.

It is not very complicated job to replace it. You, probably, will need somebody to give you a hand.

To start, remove the screws from the front of the main top holding it to the frame and lift it up. All burners are attached to the main top. Remove them one at a time, remove the indicator lights (they have the locking clips) and then release the main top from the hinges (under the control panel) and remove it.

Assemble all parts in the reverse order.

- Here are the break down diagrams for the Frigidaire range Model FEF358BFDA

Good luck.
Gene.

all i need is a glass top for my whirlpool stove. i had some plastic sitting near the stove and it melted, i didn't notice it right away, long and short is the glass broke when i tried to get it off. i have had the stove less than 30 days and it break my heart to have to throw it away! new glass is priced close to $500, i only paid,, $335 for the stove. anyone know if its possible to purchase glass at a lesser price or if older models may fit this new one? willing to pay $150 to $200

I never heard about used glass tops. Also they usually designed for a particular model.
