I have a upright freezer i purchased from Sears but i think it was made by electrolux. We had a power outage about 2 days ago and today the nit will not freeze. It is keeping items cold like 41 degrees but nothing lower. I can net set the temp settings on the front and it is staying in 1 out of 8 and I can only see partial numbers sometimes. I am somewhat technical and willing to troubleshoot with some instruction. The compressor is cold or room temp. We do have an identical freezer and its compressor is hot Any suggestions are appreciated

Looks like it is a problem with the control board. Click on the picture for more info about the part. Part number: AP5306797
I would try unplugging it for a couple minutes to see if it will reset itself. Also if the compressor is on all the time except when the unit goes through a defrost cycle then it is probably something else. You can usually hear the compressor but also should be able to feel it vibrating. |

You can usually hear the compressor but also should be able to feel it vibrating. The compressor on the one not cooling does not kick on. It's cool to touch. I have two other freezers that are identical and will take the control board out of one of those and place it in this one to see if that fix' the issue or I have more troubleshooting to do Three questions 1- how does the control board come out? It looks like it just pops out with a flat head and I assume plugged in? 2- for a temp fix can I bypass or jump out the broken control until the new part comes in? I understand about electrical safety very well. I'm a 30+ year get when it comes to electronics / controls /AC/DC wiring 3 - can I use 1 control to run 2 freezers temporarily (2days max) part will be here tomorrow Thanks for all your help! I, extremely appreciative.

You are correct the 253 prefix comes up as a Gibson which is owned by Frigidaire which is owned by Electrolux.
As far as I know there is not a schematic available for the board. Fact is I cannot even find a wiring diagram for the unit.
1- how does the control board come out? It looks like it just pops out with a flat head and I assume plugged in? The control board just unsnaps off the door. Use a flat blade and pry it off the outer door. The above is from the q&A for this part. If it does not work try using a putty knife etc to release the tabs.
2- for a temp fix can I bypass or jump out the broken control until the new part comes in? I cannot help you here as I do not have a wiring diagram. It should be possible. Then you could let it run for a couple hours so it gets good and cold then unplug it and as long as you have a fair amount of food in the unit and do not open the door everything should stay frozen. 3 - can I use 1 control to run 2 freezers temporarily (2days max) part will be here tomorrow I would not do this as odds are high that you would overload the relay contacts or triac (not sure which they use) that is used to control the compressor and fan. |

Thanks fir the quick reply. I've been around the globe with Fridgdaire to the point I'm thinking about calling Saturday Night Live lol. They tell me to call Kenmore as it's a Kenmore unit. I tell them Kenmore said to call you as they do not make this unit. As a matter of fact mam they don't manufacture anything and Fridgedaire manufactures this unit in MN. She said, I understand sir but you need to call Sears then ... This went on for 20 minutes until I got a schematic I can't read. It's too blurry. It came from Electrolux. I email the girl back requesting something. Could read. I'll post the image as soon as I here back

Disconnect the controller and then shorting the wires that went to 2 and 3 should turn the compressor and the fan on. |
