My 3 year old washer does not spin. Clothes come out soaking wet. I can hear water being pumped out when I run the machine on the "spin/drain" cycle.
From what I've been reading here the "control board" is the culprit. Is there any chance it could be the door lock switch? How can I be sure? I would like to do this repair myself especially since I was quoted $650. :eek: by a repairman to replace the control board. For $650 I can put that money towards a new machine. Geeze, the part only costs a little more than $100.

Gosh, I wish it could be the door lock mechanism but since it sounds like your machine will go through the fill, agitate and drain cycles that is not likely.
This is a Frigidaire machine made for Sears. It is a good machine, although lately we have been getting what I consider more than usual service issues.
The price quote from the tech to replace the Central Control Board is rediculous, and why anyone thinks an individual will spend $650 to fix this machine is beyond me. You could easily replace it yourself if we were sure that is the problem. However, these machines have a control board at the motor, called by Frigidaire a Speed Control Board, by others it is called the motor control board. I think it is more likely your problem.
However, about the only way to tell which board, motor or central is the problem is to replace the board and see if that fixes things. Unfortunately, this is not cheap. What I would do first is check all of the wiring between the central control unit and the motor control board. If you are lucky it is a break or short or frayed wiring, which is then a cost free fix. If not, then you will have to make a decision about replacing boards, and if so, which one.

Boards? There is more than one? The control board is just one piece, right? I have another posting that I submitted after I found that I could do a diagnostics test on the machine and wound up with a E43 code (replace control board).
Drags1998(senior expert) believes it is the door switch. He had the same code and replaced the board and it ended up being the door switch. See my other post(diagnostic test mode?)

Well, you can see the problems we all have in diagnosing this type of problem on this type of machine. Also, you now have posted new information which I did not have at the time of answering.
I am afraid you are going to just have to take what you believe to be the best shot at it. This is why a tech on a service call has the great advantage of being able to replace parts in order to determine what is worng.
I read Drags post, and he feels pretty confident about his solution, and it is the least costly one, and if you go that way I hope it works. I

The $650. tech. who came to my house(on his own time) said he though it was the circuit board(control board). He opened the access panel put his meter inside and made his diagnosis. Maybe he was wrong?

This is one reason I recomend buying the Frigidaire front loader with a mechanical timer. It has good diagnostic info that will steer you to either a bad timer or speed control board.

All fixed!:) It was the door lock assembly. Good thing I didn't go for the control board first. But the diagnosis code said to replace the board. Thank you Drags for pointing that out!
I'd recommend this site to anybody who needs help with trouble shooting or just on how to repair their own appliances. Thanks guys!!!!

Glad you got it worked out and glad Drags was right because it was a lot less expensive and the control board would not have fixed it anyway.
