Goes through the cycles but will not spin , when put into spin cycle manually hear a sound of like placing a playing card in a fan noise? the lid switch does click. Is it a stripped gear spin cycle?

probably a coupler ( inexpensive part and relatively easy to replace ).. i dont remember part#'s off the top of my head but im sure that abbie or gene do ... ( if you know how to pull the pump and the motor out you can check the status of the couple visually ... )

the coupler is comprised of 3 pieces... 2 plastic and 1 rubber piece... the two plastic pieces have knubs that fit into the rubber intermediary piece.. the motor shaft gets 1 plastic piece and the trans gets 1 plastic piece and the rubber piece connects the two together .. ( they have been redesigned by W/P to hold up a bit better .. )

Jim,

When I look at the current coupler that is in the washer what are the signs that it is indeed broken?? will the coupler spin by hand because the knubs are broken off? will I find plastic pieces scattered etc.....??

when you get the pump off to the side and the motor removed, you'll see the two plastic pieces with the 3 knubs ( you'll know where the knubs are supposed to be because the rubber intermediary piece is usually intact and you will see where the 3 knubs from both plastic pieces should fit in to... most likely you will just see the 2 round plastic pieces with no knubs on them...

all standard tools .. phillips head screw driver, flat head screw driver (large and small ) and a 5/16 hex nut driver would also help.. ( strong forearms and gloves will also help )
