Hi,
I want to replace the water discharge hose on the P563, it's currently a plastic hose and I want to replace it with a rubber (more flexible) hose. Before I take it apart I want to be sure of the connection to the machine, I don't want any surprises!
Thanks,
Bob

That is really not a GE model number. Try to get the right number and then I would call APP on Monday and talk with the parts department about getting a new hose. I don't think though that you can get a rubber one, but check to make sure.

The discharge hoses are usually pretty reliable because they are not under pressure.

Hello Again,

The reason I want to replace the discharge hose is that I have a septic system and want to put a filter on the discharge hose but the hose is plastic and not flexible enough. Could a rubber hose be mounted at the discharge section? Would I be able to connect at this point? I tried to connect my filter to the plastic hose BUT that did not work out, it leaked because the plastic was to rigid to clamp too.

If you have a traditional GE top loader than it has a proprietary connection to the washer.

I now understand your problem and have dealt with the issue personall by taping a leg length of panty hose to the end of the drain hose. It does a great job of trapping lint but you have to change it often.

My problem s I've spent $ 165.00 on a filter setup and mounted it to the wall and need to connect it via some type of hose! When you say proprietary what are you describing? Have you been inside to do a visual on the outlet? If I open the metal housing around the back of the machine (cut it) will I be able to connect a rubber hose?
Thanks,Bob

I don't know because we do not have a good model number for your machine. If you will post a model number you can look at an exploded view of your model and see what it looks like inside. You probably can connect a rubber hose, and can get the correct OD from a good hardware store.

Okay, if you will take off the front panel which you can do by placing a thin flat head screw driver or putty knife in the gap between the top and front near the edges to release the clips that hold the front panel on you will see the pump in the lower right side of the machine.

You can remove the pump and the hose leading from it to the outside and replace it with a rubber hose that will enable you to do what you want to do.

Use your model number to see an exploded view of your machine in the Parts Tab
