Hi - I have a Kitchen Aid Professional 600 series mixer. The planetary housing has slid off, and will not remain in place when put back on. All the information I have found, including the repair manual show the main shaft as attached to the housing, and then the shaft is secured to the mixer. On mine, however, the housing has slid off the main shaft, and there is no obvious way to secure it back on. On different models, there is a pin that inserts through the housing through a hole in the main shaft, but the Pro 600 does not have this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am having the same problem with my kitchen aid Professional 600 series mixer, the planetary housing will not stay on. Did you find an answer to this?

Hi Debbie - After carefully analyzing the schemeatics for the mixer it became clear that the planetary assembly is not supposed to detach from the main shaft in that way, and there does not appear to be a clear fix - I'm not sure how it stays on - must be friction.
The good news is that I was able to buy a new planetary assembly complete with shaft for less than $20.
Installing it was not overly complicated, though you need to remove a tension ring with tension ring pliers to get it off. I needed to get a new ring form the hardware store to reassemble it.
I found a repair guide for the mixer online which was helpful.
If you aren't good at this type of thing, I bet you could find someone to do it for you pretty easily - the whole fix took maybe 30 minutes, but you are opening up the mixer, so need to be confident.

Wish I had a copy of the repair guide you were talking.
The only thing that seems to be holding our Kitchenaid 600 Professional Mixers Planetary housing is friction. I am going to get warp it with some teflon pipe tape and bang it on. Since the tape is inside the mixer it can't get into the dough while its mixing. Think it should do the trick !

Our KitchenAid 600 Professional has a Planetary has come apart.
The part number is 9708753 the rod came out of the cap.
The only thing that seems to be holding it together is a grooved rod that fits into the cap. I think I have to buy the part and install it with some grease?
My research seems to indicate the part is interchangeable with Whirlpool mixers as well.

The teflon tape trick didn't work.
The rod came apart and the planetary fell down into the bowl when we ran the mixer.
Ordered the assembled planetary part number 9708753 online for about $20.
Also ordered the planetary grease online.
