My Whirlpool Washer Ultimate Care ll 8 Cycle 5 Speed Combo, Quiet Wash Commercial Quality stopped draining, rinsing and spinning. I was told in a forum that the Timer Switch was bad, so I bought a new Timer Switch. The part# is FSP 3953321A.
I was told that this the same as the FSP #3953321. I sent for the new switch and there was no improvement so I returned it and tried another one. I am having exactly the same problem as before and am stumped. It also doesn't seem to work at all in 2 of the four washing modes.
Can anyone please tell me what I should check next? This has been a good washer, but I have already replaced the motor and now the timer switch. I am beginning to think that the timer is not the problem . It fills okay and agitates okay but does not pump out, spin or drain.

I appreciate the thought, but after replacing the lid switch 3 times, I just eliminated it and bypassed it. The washer fills and agitates but will not drain, rinse or spin.

It has worked fine for about 5 years and then I had to replace the motor. Since then, it has worked properly until a week or two ago when it failed to drain, rinse and spin.

I checked the forums and was told it was definitely the Timer Switch so I bought one and it was no different. I sent it back and got another from a different company and it is exactly the same... It will fill and agitate but no draining, rinsing or spinning and instead of working in all four modes, it only seems to work in two modes of washing.

Do you have any other ideas?

Does anyone have a schematic that is clearer than the one that came with the washer? It is torn and much of it is missing making it very difficult to understand.

Thanks for the quick reply and the diagram and schematic!

It is just dead quiet! No sounds except the timer turning. No humming, just dead silence...

Sometimes I hear the timer turning inside but not always... and usually no sound at all when in the drain, rinse or spin positions.
Of course there is water in the tub because it won't drain, but when the agitator kicks in, it really works strong ~ maybe its because the clothes are out?

I am on the 3rd Timer Switch and each one has worked exactly the same way. I still have the original one in case there is nothing wrong with it ~ Is there any way to test it?

I think you can take the lid switch out of the equation because after replacing it 3 times, I bypassed it ~ It is gone.

I will go back and check the bypass. Maybe it may have been jostled around and have been affected by an unbalance load.
