Recently the in-door water dispenser has become "sticky" in that it takes a bit of a push on the control arm to start the flow of water.
Today, the whole thing got stuck in the open position and I wasn't able to get it turn off. I had to pull the fridge out and turn the water off at the back. It was a huge mess.
Not sure what this whole thing is about. Does it need a good cleaning? Does the on/off arm need to be replaced?
I'm about to try to clean the assembly with a steam cleaner to see if I can get it work smoothly, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks very much.

the switch that actuates the inlet valve is sticking on. that is to say debris could be caught causing it to be stuck inward or the contact in the switch is bad and holding. either way your best bet is to replace the switch.

i can only suggest to look at the exploded view and go from there. when you get to the switch you will notice it is pushed in or it resistant to being pushed and slow to release
