i went out of town for a few days. came back went to do laundry and opened my front loader washer and water gushed out. it filled up by itself while i was gone. what you cause this? i have never heard of such a thing. please help

Most likely the water inlet valve stuck open. The solution is to replace the water inlet valve.

For more accurate advise and the right part number I need the complete model number of the washer.

I don't want to take a chance...I would like information on the part that will keep my unit from filling with water all the time. Mine does it all the time. My machine is a duet....Model number GHW9100LW2.....

inlet valve is where your water hoses hook. See part here Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL GHW9100LW2 | AppliancePartsPros.com in the control panel diagram parts list.
