This is a wine cooler with a bad thermostat - order new part and installed it - unit seemed to work fine until I closed the back and mounted the stat - doesn't work at all. I assume I did something wrong and don't want to repeat with second new thermostat - any help would be appreciated

What is it doing now? Could you have possible shorted a ire to ground while installing or ran a screw through the thermocouple from the thermostat?

Doesn't do anything - will work if I bypass the thermostat - I dont see any damage to the thermocouple, I thought I ran it along the same path

So no continuity through the thermostat terminals if tested with a meter? Doesn't sound like you did anything unless it shorted, but you would have noticed that.

No continuity - it seemed to work until I put it together - I jumped the wires and it worked - I thought maybe I broke or kinked the thermo couple but can't see anything

It sounds like the thermostat is just faulty. It should be under warranty and not cost anything for a replacement.
