My GE side by side is working(ice maker makes ice but the screw mechanism to move cubes not working for last 3 years)
now has developed a weird "knock" sound about every 15 sec and when it occurs the room lights flicker? Any thoughts.
Thanks

It sounds like your compressor is shutting off on the overload (the knock sound) and is drawing excessive current when trying to start (the dimming lights). May I please have your model number so I am able to provide you with accurate, model specific information?

Thank you! So is the unit still keeping good temperatures in both sections?

Okay, so the compressor is not likely the issue. Can you tell where the knocking noise comes from?

Nija
It sounds like the noise is coming from the back. Its not constant, and sonetimes less loud then others.
