Hi everyone -

I have an old JC Penney chest freezer. I damaged it getting it through a door, and I believe the part that broke is called the relay. It appears to be a switch of some sort, and has a copper coil on it with a single wire coming from it, and has a dual-prong connectivity.

Anyway - the freezer ran beautifully before I damaged it. I would love to fix it but am having trouble finding parts. Here are the specs:

MOD- 867882031112
Serial - 42H2031 - - AA - 063
115v, 9oz refrigerant, 4.3 amps

Is it possible to stick a generic relay on it from another model if I was to connect it correctly? Or am I screwed? I actually got it to run, but when I disconnect it from the power, it won't turn on, and there is a hum. My guess is that the contacts inside the relay are not working correctly.

The jcpenny Arctic King chest cooler backings a wide scope of temperatures from a frosty cold - 12 to an emphatically Arctic - 28, so the decency of your number one food varieties is secured.
