I had a repairman tell me that I needed to replace one of the Power Nut Caps. The Whirlpool part number is 780036. The part has been discontinued by Whirlpool. All the part people on a google search say they do not have the part. Is there an alternate part that could replace the part, or should I just throw the compactor away? Could I have a machine shop build me the part, or would it be too expensive to build the part?

What was the original problem? I never seen this part (power nut retainer) worn out.

Hi Gene: I phoned your 800 number, and they told me that the retainer nut, Part # 780036 was not in stock and discontined by the manufacturer. Thanks for trying. Ron Kenney
