microwave will not come on after setting cook time, closing the door, and pushing start button. timer counts down but carousel does not turn and cooking does not happen. i have checked fuse and all three door switches.no luck. It's a sharp carousel microwave. any help on further diagnosis would be greatly appreciated.

I repaired a Sharp R530ES with the same problem.I first checked the door switches which seem to be the problem in most cases but in my case it turned out to be one of the power relays on the control board. I don't recommend my troubleshooting technique to anyone not comfortable working around very high voltage but the way I discovered the failed part was to run the microwave (with a cup of water inside) with the top cover off. While it was doing it's countdown without cooking I tapped on each power relay. These are electro-mechanical devices so a mechanical problem with the contact or the mechanism could occur. So in my case, when I tapped the bad one, the oven started working. Tapping it again made it stop. It was a repeatable test. I ordered the new part, installed it and it's working now.
