I have a whirlpool RF368LXKQ that the burner on the top comes on and goes off very often and it takes along time to get water to boil. It does it even on high. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you've got a switch problem which is really common on these units...........There are two types of switches depending on the size of the burner that's having the problems this usually occurs on the larger burners on most units with the infinite switch. More then likely it's the switch and here's the numbers depending on size burner part number 3149400 or 3149404.

make sure you are not putting a larger pan than the burner can handle and make sure you do not have a pan with a shiny bottom. copper is best. there is a sensor in the burner itself and if the heat is reflected too quickly it will cause a short cycle. if you have been using the same pans and it has just started you will need to replace the burner. the sensor comes as part of the burner and is not available seperatly
