My oven stopped heating. I turned off the circuit breaker then went to remove the bake element and noticed that one of the wire connectors was not connected. I pulled the back off the oven and noticed that the connector was burnt and around 1 inch of the wire was also burnt. The bake element still looks good except it is a little black where the connector slides on. Should I cut the wire and put a new connector on and try it or should I call a service repair person? Thanks.

Be sure to cut the wire back till you get nice clean copper.
Also the new connector should be rated for high current. |

At this stage, I would replace the element and install a new terminal on the wire, Make SURE the new terminal is installed correctly and has a TIGHT connection on the new element!!!!:)

Where can I find a connector rated for a high currrent? The one I used was for low voltage (something I had in the garage). The connector was fine but it burnt the wire off again. Can I take the element to get it tested or would that matter?
