Kitchenaid clothes washer won't spin without a push

My Kitchenaid clothes washing machine will spin sometimes and sometimes I have to raise the lid, and rotate the tank clockwise a bit, close the lid, and do this multiple times until it starts to spin. It does not happen every time and happens on all wash cycles but not repeatably. Most of the time it spins and empties as it should during the middle of the wash/rinse cycle, but then when it gets to the final spin, it just makes noise like it should spin but stays stationary until I raise the lid, spin it clockwise manually, and then close the lid. I have already replaced the "plastic" block beneath the drum (which was not really warn at all). Opening and closing the lid during different phases of the cycle does not seem to affect its performance. And the weight of the clothes does not seem to cause a difference in its behavior.

Okay, thanks for the quick reply. I'll give it a try.

The lid might be broken. Get it replaced and if the problem still persists, it is better to get it checked at a washer repair center instead of going for the DIY method. My washing machine had somewhat a similar issue months back and I had to get it checked at a washer repair center in Toronto.

Thanks, it turned out the clutch assembly needed to be replaced. Thanks for taking your time to respond. Enjoy the day.
