So from L1 to 4M you got 0 ohms but from L1 to 5M it was infinite ohms.
Is this correct? Yes.

bad motor, ok, thanks for all your help

Which two lead/terminals on the motor to apply 120v directly to check when motor disconnected from dryer?

4M to 5M

These connect in the start and main (run)windings.
When the motor gets close to operating speed the centrifugal switch opens.
Disconnecting the start winding but leaving the main winding in circuit.

Put power directly to 4m and 5m and motor works fine. Hooked back up motor to dryer harness and won't start. Must be timer?

Could be the timer.

I do not understand what is going on here as your meter readings showed the motor as an open circuit.
