Hi,
Researched this issue and have already replaced defrost timer and defrost thermostat. Refrigerator worked for a while and now refrigerator is warm again. I am noticing that a light frost is beginning to build up along the back wall of the freezer though the freezer is working. Am wondering what my next step should be. Do either of these parts need an adjustment or re-setting when they are installed? Does the freon need to be recharged? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Here are your parts Parts for GE TPS24PPDABS Refrigerator - AppliancePartsPros.comResearched this issue and have already replaced defrost timer and defrost thermostat. Why did you replace the above? Did you check these parts before replacing them? Refrigerator worked for a while and now refrigerator is warm again. Remove the cover inside the freezer so you can inspect the evaporator coils. If they are heavily iced/frosted over to the point where the evaporator fan cannot pull air through them then you have a defrost problem. Also check that the evaporator/freezer fan is running. Do either of these parts need an adjustment or re-setting when they are installed? No Does the freon need to be recharged? Cannot say. You have to check the evaporator coils. If there is just frost in one area, usually where the freon enters the coils, then you probably have a low freon problem. Your unit uses a glass heater and they are known to be a problem. Also I notice that the heater item 230 in the Freezer Section Parts section comes in two flavors with one of them including the harness and a thermostat. This indicates to me that there have been problems in this area though I have no proof of that. |

thanks for your reply Denman. Researched this issue and have already replaced defrost timer and defrost thermostat.
Why did you replace the above? Did you check these parts before replacing them? We replaced these parts because I read on another repair blog that with this issue these two parts were likely the problem and if we still had the issue after these were replaced then probably the Freon needed recharging. I did not know there was a way to test these parts. The refrigerator is 13 years old. We will check the evaporator coils. Is it possible to replace the glass heater? Where can I find that part number? Thanks again and I will follow up with what we find. Leah Read more: http://forum.appliancepartspros...p;p=813371#ixzz2THqYQAkp http://forum.appliancepartspros.com
