The washer will agitate fine. Spin cycle comes along, no go. I replaced the Gear Case, still no go. Looking under washer while it is running in the spin cycle and the motor is going, the motor coupling is spinning and the clutch assembly is spinning. The basket is not spinning and the agitator gear is not spinning whey looking down on the basket with the agitator removed. What the hay. Looking at the parts diagrams I can't figure out a thing. Help

You either have jammed brake shoes or a busted brake actuator or both.
Pull tranny and check if the brake shoes release when you turn the actuator, the thing that has a paw that engages the clutch.

Is the ring with the spring in the clutch assembly supposed to move easily by hand. This on does. There appeared to be some kind of oily build up in it. I cleaned it out and the washer attempts to spin. The pads on the clutch appear to be worn. I will be ordering another clutch and actuator and replace them. Do you think that may solve the problem. Both the actuator and the brake shoes appear to be okay. When I spin the actuator, the break shoes release and allow the drum to spin. When I run the washer on spin cycle for a while I think the clutch pads are warming up and are able to stick better because I was able to get it up to a high spin once, the problem I now have is that the basket bucks all over the place and bangs around. I did replace the spring on the base because I had the problem earlier. I hope laying the washer down on it's face did not cause this problem because that is what I have been doing to work on this thing.

Thanks for your help.

Rich

You may have a warped brake housing. I would do the test in my article "replacing direct drive washer brake shoes" Also, I would take some material off the brake shoes to solve the problem.
