Machine was washing/agitating, I noticed the clothes soaked, Took machine apart, coupler is fine, Took out motor and shaft and put on the floor, motor engages clutch (I hear click) the clutch spins (clockwise looking down) and I am able to hold the shaft still during this "test" when I close lid, clutch appears ok, no broken parts noticed. Help would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for the advice!!! Is there any chance that the drive block has failed?
Also, the top of the cabinet lacks clips and is fastened with screws in the front corners from the inside. Stupid design!! I will test the timer the way you described but what is the best way to take the top off this machine in the event I want to check the drive block and have to remove the basket? Thanks Again!!

Gene, Thanks for your help so far. I didn't take the cabinet apart once I saw how it was put together so I waited for your answer. I did all my initial "looking" with the machine lying down. Thank you very much for the instructions. I am going to put it back together and test the timer the way you indicated. I do have a question related to this as I am trying to get a better understanding of this thing. As indicated in my initial posting, when the timer is in the spin position the motor does run yet there is no spinning of the basket. I thought the timer was only involved in making electrical contacts to different components so I proceeded to look for something mechanical in nature related to the failure. Should I check the drive block while I have this apart? Thanks for your wisdom on this thing. Dennis

Gene, Once again thanks for your knowledge and guidance on this. Having the cabinet off per your instructions I decided to take a peek at the drive block while it was open. I took the spanner nut off to get a look at the grooves in the drive block and they appear fine and engaged with the tabs. Thanks for your explanation on the timer as it has helped me understand what is going on here. I will order one and let you know what happens. Gene thanks again. Dennis

Well! I put the thing back together to test the timer as noted above and the thing is running fine. ??What the heck??? Is it possible that a real heavy load of towels will not spin? I noticed the soaking wet load when I had a load of towels in there. Is it possible that the break shoe may be dragging slightly and in combination with a heavy load it just can't get going? Let me know. Would it be wrong to put a large load in it to see what happens? Thanks for your help!!! Dennis
