The washer is emitting a burning odor. The gasket appears to be burned and the likely cause of the smell. We think the gasket burned because the washer is not balanced due to it making substantial noise when used. Does anyone know if the gasket is the issue, and how to re-balance the washer drum to prevent this gasket from burning up again?

Yes we believed the smell to be coming from that diaphragm as part of it looked to be burned off as well. Do you know how to go about opening the the front to remove and replace that diaphragm. In addition we believe that the cause could have been that the drum itself may not be balanced properly. Would you know how to go about fixing that as well.

Before replacing the door diaphragm (boot) you have to find and fix whatever caused it. Did you check that nut?

Which nut are you referring to? In addition, how do you go about removing the diaphragm?

I have this similar issue, purchased a replacement door boot, then discovered the metal tub does not run true in the plastic drum. I read your post about the pulley nut. It is tight and it does not seem to wobble at the pulley when the metal drum is spun. Curious if there is a common problem with the spinner shaft bending? The pulley does not appear to be effected as I manually spin the drum. The tub wobbles at the door, the pully appears true. The part I am asking about is the Assy Frame Shaft, item #21 in diagram
