Hi,

I bought this electric oven brand new in 1996. I have noticed two issues with the oven: 1) it has been increasingly difficult to close the oven door. The door gets stuck half way and I need to open the door fully and then push to close it. I think the hinges of the door need to be replaced. I wonder if I have to change the hinge receptacles as well. If so I would appreciate your advise re:parts numbers and diagram to change the hinges and receptacles.
2) In addition the racks support are lacking one screw and another two cannot be tighten. which means they are not supported. I am afraid they could no longer support the racks when dishes are cooking.

I would appreciate your directing me on how to repair the door and porcelain support.

Thank you very much

Hello,

You have to replace both door hinges but I don't think that you have to replace the receptacles too. It's very rare issue. You did not mention what color is your oven. I found the part numbers for both stainless steel and black ovens. The door hinges are coming as a set of two.

Also I found the part number for the rack support.

The installation instructions are attached to the post but I'm not sure that the instructions for the door disassembly are good for this model.

- The door hinge kit (SS models) Part number: 701035
Part number: 701035

- The door hinge kit (Black models) Part number: 701034
Part number: 701034

- The rack support kit Part number: 701038
Part number: 701038

Hello Gene,

Thanks so very much fo your prompt response and for the illustrations from the Dacor repair manual. Your opinion is very much valued and I will follow the advice of not changing the receptacles. It occured to me to change them because it is increasingly difficult to close the door and the hinges show signs of abrasion or harsh rubbing against something inside the cavity.

The oven is White outside and black inside, hence I do not mind to have steel hinges that are black.

The rack support issue seems more complicated. The structure is intact, but the screws that attach it to the oven inside walls cannot be tighten, and it seems that they just rotate without anything attached to them. So my question is what do they attach to? what kind of part is it?

Thanks again for your good advise. i believe i am close to solving the problem

Best

graciela:)

Hello Graciela,

In regards of the receptacles, you only the person who can determine if they really have to be replaced.

Unfortunately I could not find any more information regarding the rack support. Dacor does not supply any technical information for non authorized servicers.
