Hey Gene do you mean remove the control board from the front door of the freezer and measure the resistance of the black and red wires that the thermistor would be connected to? Taking the control board off doesn't allow the freezer to run.

Ok freezer thermometer says 5 degrees (I only ran it for about 2 hrs), and the thermistor wires read -46.2. Seems to be cooling at a fair amount but still reading E8 error code.

This reading is incorrect what means the thermistor is bad. If you purchased it recently, it has to be exchanged under the part warranty.

I may have incorrectly tested something. I actually tested the red and black wires that are coming out of the back of the freezer where the thermistor should have been hooked up to at 5 degrees. Not the thermistor itself. I have one new and one original thermistor and both read between 9.5 and 10 at room temp with the multitester. And about 28 in iced water.
