Need a little help -- went and did all the checks for the voltage on plug J2 --and determined that yes indeed the condensor fan motor was defective -- was getting 12 volts on both tests -- ordered the motor and it just came -- fast delivery -- installed it, turned on the refrigerator and fan is still inoperative -- Help -- thanks alot --

Simon thanks for your reply -- but that's why i did the checking of the voltage to narrow it down to the problem which is suppose to be the Condensor Fan motor -- i don't want to just throw parts at it -- are there any other checks that one can make to be sure what the problem is -what should the ohm readings be on the fan motor itself could the new one be bad -- and now there is another one -- the 3 wires came out of the holder that plug into the fan holder -- what wires ( color ) on the fan side correspond to the 3 from the refer -- there is a pink, red and white -- Thanks again

Hi.
What was the test you performed to determine that it's the motor? On color code looks like R-R,W-W,Y-P.

Simon
On the mother board there is a plug marked J2, put (common) lead on J2-pin 3 (third pin from left) and the red lead on J2 pin 8 - I got 12 VDC - the test says if you don’t replace the main board.
next test says put the black lead on the same wire and test to pin 5 this pin should read 12 VDC, 8VDC, or 4VDC. I got 12 VDC it says fan motor is defective -- Replace
Thanks again

Is it possible that you hooked up the wires incorrectly?
Just to make sure I got it right: Between J2-3 and J2-8 is 12VDC and J2-3 and J2-5 is 12VDC.
Simon.

i must have done this at least 6 times just to make sure and even did it again when i put the new fan motor in and it did not run -- what are the tests for the fan motor itself -- ohm readings across the different wires ?:( thanks again

Simon-- Any other suggestions -- And yep Between J2-3 and J2-8 is 12VDC and J2-3 and J2-5 is 12VDC Oh and the two resistors do not look discolored at all -- still green -- and the new fan motor does work -- hooked up to 12vdc--

Are you getting voltage to the motor plug?
Simon.
