Recently had pot overflow while boiling water and cooktop became wet. Immediately after, heard clicking sound (like when igniting) which I understand is normal when wet. The sound continued for about 6 hours and finally stopped. Since then I have the center rear burner which will not lite. All other burners work normally. The non functioning burner will lite with a match, but it will not spark and ignite on its own. I have checked the wire harness connecting that burner and cleaned the igniter. I do not see any cracks on the igniter and the wire seems in good condition. I disconnected the wire and cleaned the contacts to the igniter. I am not sure if the spark module, wiring harness, or some other part needs to be replaced. If someone could please help with troubleshooting this problem.

Hi.

When you turn the burner on does the other ignitors spark?
When you turn on any other burners does the one in question sparks?
Switch around the ignitor wires at the spark module to determine if that is module or the ignitor.

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for Whirlpool GLT3615LB02 36" GAS GLASS SURFACE COOKTOP | AppliancePartsPros.com

Thank you. Post the results.

The other burners ignite normally, just the center back is not sparking. Thank you for your suggestion. I will try switching the wiring harness to see if it is the module or wiring harness.

Replaced wiring harness and problem solved. Unfortunately broke 4 screw heads removing burners. Turned easy job into long hard job having to extract broken screws before being able to lift up cooktop to replace wiring harness.
Sorry it took so long to post results.

Hi.

Don't feel bad about the screws - you are not along.

Congratulations on the job done.

Simon.
