It showed nothing, no BEEEP, I believe there was some resistance, Like M-ohms. Now, I ask you, what does this thermostat do, restart the timer after the defrost cycle??? :confused:

It is closed while the evaporator is cold and opens the circuit as long as the temperature reaches its limit. The defrost timer controls the defrost cycle by the time, providing power to the heater, and has nothing to do with the defrost thermostat. Gene.

OK, so I gather that the timer is running all the time and the thermostat just turns the heater on and off. I also noticed that with the meter connected to the heater terminals, As I turned the timer, and got close to the "BIG CLICK" the voltage started slowly going up until I hit the "BIG CLICK" then the compreser and fan stop, and the voltage went to 120V and the heater got hot. is all that normal??

I have not checked for continuity yet, but I think it is likely that the control board failed, since the problem started right after a strong thunderstorm knock out the electricity for five hours. I know that it seems to be running all the time. (The timer that is.) Also while I'm checking things I will check the thermostst that is in the frige. I assume it should be open cold, about 35deg. And closed warm, about 40 deg. I will let you know what I find out. Thanks for the help so far, Jake

Cleaned the coils from the dust build up and all. Sears said its a motor problem over the phone but I wanted to see what others say so here a I am. Can't find a diagram online to see where is where. I have a Kenmore side by side KM WHT SXS, 22CF. Any ideas? Thanks
