The washer will not drain the water in the drum. The washer was working fine, then my wife used the "knits/delicate" cycle, and when it came up to the time to drain the water-nothing-tried all the other cycles to drain the water-nothing-the timer stops also. Any help would be appreciated. Bill D.

Sounds like the lid switch (AP3094142) is not actuating and preventing the washer from entering the drain and spin cycle. Try to actuate the switch lever and see if it might be broken, or if the mounting screws are loose. The switch comes as a kit with all the part needed for the repair.

Hi Brian!
Can I bridge the 2 wires in the lid switch? Would this allow the washer to work if this is the problem? Thanks-Bill D.

Yes, that would be a sure fire way of verifying the switch as the failure. If that is the problem, only bypass the switch temporarily as it is a safety component.

Hi Brian!
Thanks for the quick reply-we will give it a shot. Do you think the timer could be bad?

Inglis Washingon Model No. IAX4000RQ2. I was told I would need a clutch - part no. AP3094537. I can't seem to locate the manual. Is this something I can repair myself (the panel is in the back) or should I pay a technician $170 to do? Please let me have your thoughts on this. Thanks.

Carolyn, if you have some mechanical skills, the clutch is not difficult to replace, but can be intimidating as there are several steps to get it done. If you are not comfortable doing the repair, absolutely contact a professional to get it done for you. If you want to tackle the problem yourself, we can at least point you in the right direction and offer up moral support along the way.

Was thanked: 2 time(s) in 2 post(s)
This is a direct drive washer, rather easy toi work on, however if the clutch is slipping, it's probably slipping due to other problems like foreign objects in the tub, or dragging brake shoes.
You can go my "sticky" replacing direct drive brake shoes to get an idea how involved the repair would be.
