We have a Kenmore Elite Microwave, installed about 2 years ago. Model # 721.88512.

Today, my wife used the Microwave a couple times, and now a fan (not the vent fan) comes on when you close the door, even when the microwave is not in use. Unplugging it, is the only way it seems, to turn it off. Today, we left it unplugged for 3-4 hours, and plugged it back in, and the fan comes back on.

The microwave still heats up, and the LED display still works, its just that we have to unplug it to get the fan to stop running.
The normal vent fan works as well. Nothing else that we can tell is broken.

Is it worth getting repaired ? Anything else we can check or try to do to get the fan to stop running ?

Thank you"

I read for the one that I have, of which I have a similar problem, is the that door switch might be your problem. If you can get back to your schematic for your model, see if yours has a micro switch somewhere in the part that closes the door. Maybe I helped. I am still looking for an answer to my question...
