My daughter's dryer stopped running in mid cycle. There was a strong odor of burning rubber or plastic and smoke inside the drum area. When I took the dryer apart I found that one of the rear drum rollers was damaged. Now the dryer will not start. I'm assuming that the drag caused by the damaged roller caused the dryer to over heat and the high limit thermal fuse to open. I have checked all other connections and they appear fine. Before I start buying parts, is there anything else that would cause the dryer not to start?

As you can see from the wiring diagram there are no other safety devices, but the thermal fuse. It comes as a kit included the high limit thermostat too. - The part number for the thermal fuse kit is AP4242472 Gene.

Thank you. My daughter thinks Mom can fix anything. I'm trying to keep that myth alive!
