Ok, got it! Will try next time the frost is built up.
BTW, is there a smarter way to defrost manually than what I did, turning off the fridge and opening the door?

Not sure if my last reply went through, so here it is again.
Model FRT18S6ABL
Condenser fan runs quite, with good air flow, no strange noises,
Freezer temp is steady 10 deg F
Manually defrosted it yesterday morning, but it is already icing up at the rear panel louvers.
Any thoughts?

Any thoughts? I would like to confirm that we are talking about the same fan. Condenser fan is on the back of the refrigerator, next to the compressor (#60 at the diagram). The evaporator fan is inside the freezer (#13 at the diagram). My question was about the evaporator fan. How did you set the temperature controls in the fresh food compartment and in the freezer? Hi Gene
I was referring to the fan, number 13, inside the freezer.
Please note that both fans are working when the unit is running.
As far as temperature I set dial in the fridge to the recommenced setting and the damper in freezer to the cold setting ,CCW left.

Turn the damper control in the freezer all the way toward "colder" position. Wait about 24 hours and check the temperature.

Today's temp was well over 90 deg F.
I did as us asked and the freezer got down to -6 deg F, but the fridge went up to 51 deg F.
In an attempt to cool off the fridge section I turn it back to cold instead of colder, as this opens the damper, and puts more cold air into the fridge.
Rear vents in the freezer are iced up completely, so I will need to defrost the freezer tomorrow.

Mitch Mitch, You have to find out right position for both control knobs. Quote:

Hello
With the freezer knob set to cold, not colder, the fridge temp is around 38 deg. F, and the freezer is at 10 deg. F. My problem is that while this works fine the evaporator coil continues to freeze up, requiring the I manually defrost the unit.
Do you think defrost heater is malfunctioning and causing this, or could it be something else?

The normal temperature in the freezer is about 0°F while the normal temperature in the refrigerator is between 36°F to 40°F on different levels. You can do it only by playing with both control knobs. Gene.
