Hi,
My Whirlpool GU1500XTLT finished a wash cycle and now won't run. The display shows "--" (2 dashes) and the Rinse light is on. Door latches closed OK. I can press Cancel and it goes through the cancel cycle, but then returns to the previous state. Are there any tests I can run to determine if it is the door latch, keypad or control panel?

Here are your parts Replacement parts for GU1500XTLT models | AppliancePartsPros.comSee the attachment for the tech sheet. First try removing power from the unit for a couple minutes. Either unplug it or if hard wired flip the breaker off, to see if it will reset. For the door switch you could measure it with a meter to see if it is closing. |

Tried again leaving it powered off for a couple of hours and it started up fine. When the cycle finished I emptied it, but when I tried to run another cycle within a few minutes the keypad was unresponsive. I'll try to test the door switch first (sorry to see the tech sheet isn't in pages that let me print it, so I'll have to work from the PDF), but any thoughts you have on the unit working after a long power disconnect are appreciated.

Why it reset after a couple hours but did not after a few minutes has me stumped. You are just letting the computer and it's I/O chips default back to factory condition so it should work after a couple minutes. As far as I know there is nothing that holds power when the unit is disconnected from the line and would hold/lock the integrated circuits |
