The left front ("power burner") on our two year old Kenmore (Frigidaire) glass top electric range made a loud "POP" and quit working. The original burner part # is 316465001, but Sears and appliancepartspros.com show replacement part # 316465002, which I purchased and installed, but the burner still does not come on.
It should be noted that the terminals on the replacement burner are not physically in the same spot on the burner, but I did observe this and correctly installed appropriately labeled wires from the wiring harness to the terminals on the burner.
I also checked continuity on the burner control switch on the back panel and it appears to functioning correctly. I found a circuit board (difficult to access) mounted below the rear panel and behind the oven compartment. Using an inspection mirror, I didn't see any obvious signs of failure (burnt or charred) on the board.
Serial # is VF71714073 (falls within a series that Frigidaire recalled, but this Kenmore model was not)
I'm stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Jim,

This board is what Frigidaire calls "cooktop lockout relay board". It can be used if you would like to lock all surface elements from being accidentally turned ON by pushing and holding the Cooktop lockout pad until one beep is heard (after 3 seconds). The Cooktop Locked indicator will turn ON.

If this indicator is OFF and 3 other burners are working fine, then most likely the problem is a bad cooktop lockout relay board because it supplies power for any burner element you choose to use and you already replaced that heating element and checked the corresponding switch for continuity.

You have to pull the range out of the wall and remove the rear cover to access the board.

I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered on time. Although, it's probably too late to help you, I'm posting the answer anyway, so that it may help other people with a similar problem.

Gene.
