The microwave would not work when I went to use it.
It would not turn on nor does the turntable spin.
The lights, display works fine, counts down the time and "dings" when the time is done, just the turntable does not turn nor microwave come on.

Also one thing I noticed but not sure if this is normal or not but when I enter a cook time, say foe example 0:03 (3 seconds), and hit start the time will change to 0.03.

The microwave has not been used much it came new when we bought our house that was also brand new in 2006.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Open the control panel and check all door switches. If you'll see any of them melt or any wires connected burned, replace this switch.

Thank you for the prompt reply!

Ok, I checked each switch and no burnt/dark wires, wires look flawless.
They all look like they are getting pressed in when the door shuts. I tested each for continuity and they showed connection with door open or closed. Are these switches either open or closed? If that's true why would it should show continuity with door shut and open? (Ok, I tested with the wires on, this is why.) I know just enough to be dangerous. Will go back and test each one.

I also found the fuse and tested it, it shows continuity (with wires off).

Unplug the microwave first!

Remove at least one wire from each of the switches. One of them is the monitor switch which is normally closed and should read open circuit while the door is closed.

Two other switches are normally open and should read no continuity while the door is open and should read continuity while the door is closed.

Hi Gene,

Thinking out loud here:
If there was a faulty door switch I realize that the turntable would not turn nor would the microwave work, but would the timer still count down? I'm thinking no, but in my situation the timer counts down so I'm thinking as in all the door switches are fine.
That's why I went to the fuse thinking it was gone but it checks out for continuity.

The power for the microwave high voltage side comes through the secondary interlock switch (one of the door switches). So if this switch does not work properly then only high voltage part of the microwave, including the turntable motor would not work.

Hi Gene,

Found a switch that had flaky continuity, upon closer inspection the plastic around the terminal was melted.

Thank you Gene!

You are welcome. I'm glad you were able to fix it.
