Before you'll start to disassemble it, describe how did it stop please. Did it stop at the same point or it was different every time? How did it fill up with cold water?
Gene.

My tenant told me it always stops leaving her clothes wet and soapy. I'm going to assume that means it stops in the same location each time. The work around my previous tenant use was to turn the dial around and back to where it left off and restart the machine.

It is very important to find out if it fills up with cold water.

Should I tell them to run a load with cold/cold and see if any water comes out? Or is there a better way to do that?

Hello Gene, i have a maytag neptune washer, model mah5500bww, starts, fills up,runs, then stops during wash cycle, water in drum w/ clothes, no error codes, try to do spin cycle, it starts, then stops, timer goes to 0 from 9, if i hold dwn delicatesbutton and heavy soil button at same time for 3 secs and then do spin, water pumps out, but display goes off and drum spins forever, until i unplug machine, any thoughts? thanks

Open the control panel. Remove the control board and visually inspect for any burned (discolored) resistors. Post the results. Post the serial number if the washer.
Gene.
