I just bought a used refrigerator from a moving sale, in which I had checked it prior to buying it, and it was in good working condition. When I brought it home and plug it in, it does not cool down at all and I've adjusted the thermostat to it's recommended gage. Yet, it is still blowing hot air.

Therefore, I would like very much some information on what to do prior to my contacting a appliance service person. This would give some ideas on the parts and relative cost to get it repair.

Your valuable opinion would be greatly appreciated....

Did the unit get put on it's side when you moved it?

If yes let it sit unplugged for 24 hours then try it.

Is the compressor and it's fan running?

Yes, we layed it sideway while driving home, which is about a 1 block away from my home. The compressor feels like is in working order and the fan is running as well.

Base on your recommendation, I have unplugged the refrigerator for the next 24 hrs prior to turning it back on.

What will be my next step if the darn thing is still not producing cooler air?

What are the parts & labor cost am I looking at? Is this something that I can install or do I need a professional repair person?

Your assistance is greatly appreciated....

Kindly Regards,

The compressor has oil in it, when you put it on it's side you got oil up where it should not be. Leaving it sit lets the oil drain back down into the compressor instead of driving it further in to system.

Call a pro.

Probably does not make sense to fix it.

Odds are good that it will come back
