I have a Maytag frig side by side. Both the frig and freezer are at 10 C. Adjusting the climate controls does nothing. I took the back cover off to see if dust was the problem and noticed that the compressor unit is very hot. The fan runs and the compressor turns on for 5 seconds and there is a "click" and it shuts off.
This frig came with the house when we bought 3 years ago and the previous owners said they had trouble with it and repaired it....but do not know what.

Any ideas? Is it worth repairing again...we use it as a second frig.
Thanks

Sounds like the compressor starter has failed. I had a Maytag recently doing the same thing which I wrote about in the post Maytag Refrigerator not Cooling on my blog. An easy enough fix and maybe you can keep it running for a few more years.

Is the start kit in your blog compatible with my model (MSD2356AE)? It looks the same.
Thanks
