Last night I discovered the ice cube dispenser leaking water, figured someone had left the door ajar (kids) and had ice preventing the ice flap from closing as I heard humming. Well,,, this morning my freezer has defrosted itself and I think it's not cooling. The fan runs but the compressor (the big black think in the back) is hot but ....not making noise and the air coming from the bottom of the refrigerator is cool. I unplugged the unit, cleaned the coils and tried to plug it in again. The fan works, I hear a click but nothing from the black thing (compressor). I didn't wait more than 30 seconds as I'm thinking the hot compressor (???) is indicative of a burned out compressor. Thanks for any help. Carole

I checked the relay, it seems intact, the faceplate of the thing (where it connects to the compressor) is segmented but it appears it was manufactured that way as the lines are perfectly straight. I plugged the unit in again, heard a click within 30 seconds and then another click in about 30 seconds, almost like it was trying again or getting neg. feedback. I think the compressor may have made a feeble attempt to turn on an internal fan (is there such a thing) or something; but didn't. After a few more moments the relay clicked again but nothing happened. Any more things to try? Thanks for the previous help, if nothing else I'm learning alot about refrigerators. Carole
