Hello all, Kenmore 106.55502400 made by Whirlpool. Side by side. Icemaker stopped working. Through door water working fine. Replaced filter to make sure pressure was good. Without disconnecting water tubes I removed solenoid valve far enough to test two solenoids & both showing approx. 225ohms which some other forums/threads indicate the solenoid itself is probably OK. **Water tube to feed the icemaker runs up the back of the cabinet on the outside of the cabinet, so I can see that the water supply tube is not frozen. Should my next step in troubleshooting be to disconnect the icemaker water supply tube, then turn on the icemaker to see if the solenoid/valve is really working? Wouldn't I get water flowing through the tube? Anybody out there have any experience with this Kenmore made by Whirlpool & have seen this failure? Other suggestions would be appreciated on what to look for. Or, if anyone has experience with this type icemaker & knows of other parts I can check that are prone to failure. Thanks!!

We have the same problem with our Kenmore. If the freezer door is not closed tight, the water filler to the ice maker will freezes up. When this happens, no ice maker but the water in the door works fine. Turn off you refrigerator for a few hours and it will be fine. We turn ours off over night. With grandchildren this has happened many times with our side by side (106.52602100)

Gene, thanks for suggestions. I have good AC voltage between "N" and "L". I made a jumper per post with leads approx 1/4 inch longer than my 1/2 inch voltmeter's probes. Placed jumper between "T" and "H". Not sure how fast the motor should turn if OK or how long I was supposed to leave in the jumper. I placed marks on the wheel & housing for demarcation. After 15 minutes there was no movement of the motor. If you have any other suggestions please let me know. Also, I do not believe my problem is what some others have posted as far as the inlet tube being frozen, freezer door left open overnight, etc. Everything worked fine for 5 years then it just stopped making ice middle of last week. Thanks again.

wktcknet,

Based on your report the ice maker is bad and has to be replaced.

- The part number for the ice maker is AP2984633
