Hi, all. This lemon is down. Fan is not running, no ice, no cool air. The control panel on the fresh food side would blink 4 times with numbers 0000 if I hold down the Colder/warmer button. At the last blink, there are two quick blink and it go to sleep. I ordered a new one, certainly no more GE. However, I am thinking of replacing the motherboard if it works, I will leave it in my basement. My questions are: 1- Does this GE work without the water line connected or it require the water line and water to work?I don't want to use the ice maker or the water from it at all. 2- Beside the motherboard, what else may be causing trouble? The motherboard look fine; There is no sign of damages.
Thanks.

Yes your refrigerator will work fine without a water line connect to it.
Before I replaced the mother board I would remove the old one, flip it over and look for bad solder connections. I have repaired a number of these boards with bad solder connections.

Thanks for quick response & great advices. I decided to let it go. Not worth to fix and move it down. I will get a pair of the portables for the basement.
Have great weekend.
