got a whirlpool cabrio just called the number for the f1 error code. they said parts were free of charge. but would charge me labor. since i have had so many problems with the machine before with the ol error. i had previously called a local repairman. they charged me 60 dollars for a estimate of 600 dollar repair and did nothing. so i convinced the tech over the phone to send the part to my house and ill do the labor. supposed to be here in 5 to 10 days hope the f1 error will dissappear.

Called the 866-698-8253 number someone else posted and whirlpool is aware of the problem and offering to send repairman to cover parts and labor. Let's hope it all works out well.

I had to call Whirlpool 2 times. I called 866-698-8253 and was told that my serial number was not included in the recall. I still set up an appointment for repair that would have cost me $129.95 plus parts. However, still a little confused  as to why my appliance wouldnt be covered under the recall I continued reading the replies on this forum. I saw a different 800# (800.253.1301). so thankful I followed my intuition. :) My appliance is covered under the recall for the F1 code/electrical unit issue. It was overlooked by the rep at the first 800#. I will have my appliance service call tomorrow and continue with my "Happy Washing". Thanks for all the information. :o :D

Just called Whirlpool today (11-8-11). A supervisor told me there is no recall. This seems to be a huge problem. What is Whirlpool doing about it?

I have the kenmore brand that is manufactured by Whirlpool so WP referred me back to sears.
My question is: did anyone have "symptoms" before the error code appeared?
My washing machine lights blink and it beeps when I use it and I can't choose any of the temp options because it just scans and options and the time changes. The cabrio repair manual says to replace the user interface assembly with this type of problem. I think this is the same part that's replaced for an F1 error.
thanks
