The part arrived today (true two day shipping, thanks!). But, I still need one more bit of help...
Where is the defrost thermostat in my unit (GE TBX16SASFLWH)? The diagram is lacking in positional information for that part. It is in mid air above some tube and below the fridge control unit in the diagram.
THANKS again!

It is clipped to the top of the evaporator coil in back of the freezer panel.

richappy, THANKS again. I'm heading to the kitchen now... screwdriver in hand. I'll let you know how it goes. God bless... and thanks again!
9:30pm Wed UPDATE: Defrosted the freezer with a hair dryer and easily found the part. Clipped the wires and went to work. The repair is complete [[crossing fingers]]. Two hours later, the freezer temp is 19 (and dropping). The fridge temp is 48 (down from 65+ when I started and the lowest it's been since we started this episode last Wednesday). I am hopeful the temp will keep dropping to reach the 35-40ish mark mentioned by others as normal for refrigerators.
7:00am Thurs UPDATE: As of this morning the fridge temp was 34 degrees. The freezer temp was 1 degree. There is no ice build-up on the back panel or side walls of the freezer. :)

For anyone who happens upon this thread, I hope it is useful to you. Here are a couple pics of the repair, along with the part suggested by richappy. CharlieJ attached the following image(s):

Glad you got it fixed, you can use a turkey baster and hot water to get rid of the ice, just stay away from the seal area where the cap line goes into the evaporator tubing.

I really hate to write this, BUT...
The fridge worked Wednesday night, Thursday, Friday and part of Saturday. Saturday evening, it started warming a bit. By yesterday afternoon, the temp in the fridge area was back to 60+ degrees. Everything is still frozen in the freezer section, tho.
Again, we had to throw out all the condiments and everything else that couldn't be frozen. Another $50-$60 bucks in the trash. Honestly, I am really discouraged at this point.
Do I attempt another repair? If so, what part do I replace this time? The fridge worked perfectly for 3 days. I kept a constant watch on the temp -- and it stayed around 34-39 degrees. I even turned the temp "gauge" from 5 to 7 (cooler, with 9 being coldest) yesterday evening when the temp hit 55. No effect. It was in the low 60 degree range this morning.
Furthermore, I went back to earlier instructions. Turned the defrost timer one click, waited 15 min and NOTHING. So, do I throw in the towel and go buy a new or pre-owned refrigerator? There is a reputable used appliance dealer close by. Should I pay them to repair the fridge?
Any advice would be helpful, at this point. Right now, we are approx $100 in the hole for the first round of groceries thrown out + $35 for the defrost thermostat (incl. 2-day S&H) + another $50 or so for second round of groceries thrown out = $185.00 or so down the drain. I'm not sure I want to keep throwing money at an 18 yr old refrigerator. BUT, I'm willing to give it another shot IF someone can give me real hope another $50-$75 (at most) will fix it and give us peace of mind for awhile.

If you turned the defrost timer till the compressor stopped, and you got no defrost, the problem is either a bad wire, or the deforst heater. Temporarily short the defrost thermostat you put in and put it in defrost, if no defrost, you have a bad heater, they sometimes burn open at the connections, but rarely internally.

I only turned it one click, not until the compressor stopped. I'll turn til the compressor stops tonight and we'll go from there. THANKS!
