Hi, I have a GE Profile bottom freezer, model# PDS22MBRBBB, serial#LG047772. It was not keeping temp, and I noticed the condenser fan was not running and the compressor was very hot. I replaced the fan, but it still won't come on. I'm assuming it's the main control board. Does anybody have any suggestions? Is there a test procedure for the board or a service manual available? Thank's in advance.

Hi Dave, It is recommended by pros to replace the main control board if the condenser fan motor failed. - The part number for the main control board is AP4297272Gene.

Hi Gene, I received and installed the board this past Monday. The refrigerator is working as it should now. I'm still disappointed that I had to sink that much money into a fairly new refrigerator. I appreciate your help and this forum. Keep up the good work.

The GE PDS22MBR bottom-freezer has a defective circuit board. Several of my friends have the identical refrigerator and have suffered the same failure. I purchased our refrigerator on 01 Feb 2004 and had the circuit board replaced today 25 April 2009 at a cost of $353. This is unconscionable for a 4-year old appliance.

I agree with you totally.
The only reason I can see why they did this was to get a little better Energy Star rating and sell more units to energy conscious consumers. In my opinion there should be an extended warranty applied to these unit for this problem and the design engineers should be out digging ditches where they belong. Unfortunately they did not take into account the energy wasted manufacturing these things with a short lifetime. To say nothing of having them in landfills or having to recycle.
If it happened to me I would jiggery pokery an AC fan that ran all the time.
Just venting but this type of conduct by manufacturers really get my goat. |

Not that it will really help, but I have written a letter to Consumer Reports and have included a copy of the invoice for the circuit board.
