I've ordered a replacement blower housing (includes motor) for my Kitchen Aid 230v ceramic cooktop. The bearings have apparently failed on the horizontally mounted blower and it sounds like there are 2 or 3 spoons in the squirrel cage.Yes I checked for spoons and there are none in the housing...

Question: What is the best method for replacing the assembly? Is it necessary to remove the entire cooktop unit or can this guy be removed from underneath? It appears the heads of the screws holding the assembly are INSIDE the cabinet; visible but not accessible from the fan intake panel. There is hard pipe to be disconnected from the blower outlet either way.

Would appreciate your suggestions.

Larry,

In most cases it is possible to do it from inside of the cabinet.

Gene.
