Display flashing. Keypad unresponsive. Over the stove model subjected to much steam from boiling water underneath. Attempted to use, loud boom, smell of plastic. Metered fuse, it's okay. Suggestions?

Sounds like the control board has gone bad and some of the high voltage part (the diode, the transformer or the magnetron) is bad too. The control board has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available. It is time for a new microwave.
